Totem Grid Canvas workshop

I just notice that I didn't post my Totem Grid Canvas workshop from earlier this month. I hadn't taught it in a few year so there were a few requests for it. It's one of my all time favourite workshops to teach so I was happy to be doing it again. I love the techniques with texture and all the fun combination of objects people use to finish it off.

Teaching this workshop again has inspired me so much. I see more grid canvases in my future and possibly some interesting variations on this theme.

So much texture and colour.

When people come to the studio to do the Excavating Layers workshop they are expecting to make a 12" x24" canvas. But more often than not they walk away with 4 finished pieces.
The first time I taught this workshop, at the last minute I decided that I would have them do some practicing with the texture layers and colours on 3 small 5" x7" canvas boards. To my surprise and the students delight they worked out so well that they ended up with 4 finished pieces of art at the end of two days. Sometimes they do similar styles on all three boards and end up with a tryptic and sometimes they try a variety of styles and end up with 3 separate pieces.
This weekends I had two wonderfully creative students in the studio. They did a great job on all of their canvases.

Acrylic Pour Swipes

Today was my first Acrylic Pour Swipes workshop and I think it was a great success. There was a great group of ladies in the studio this afternoon having lots of painty fun. Some were new to acrylic pouring and some had already done some playing and experimenting with it, but all had great results.

Gelli Plate fun

It has been a few months since I've had my Gelli Plate out to play. So it was great fun to teach it to this amazing group of creative women for a day. In the Intro workshop we learn the basics of the Gelli Plate and do a lot of playing. At the end of the day we all made small books with one of our many prints. They did an awesome job.

I definitely need to get my Gelli Plate out to play more often. I plan to do more experimenting and have some new workshops in the new year.

Acrylic Pour time again.

It was time for another Acrylic Pour workshop Yesterday. As usual it was great fun. I love seeing the colour combinations that people choose. I never get tired of seeing the magic of the pour. Today's students did a great job.

Acrylic Pour workshop

I think I may have become addicted to acrylic pouring. It's just too much fun. And it's great to be able to teach and do it with a group of like minded creative women.
Yesterday's class was a blast and I must of kept playing for over and hour after they left. It's just so hard to stop. Just look at the fun pours they did. Some of these are going to be turned into books.
