Creating

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday. I was happy to have my kids home for 2 weeks. We've had a great time with just a few more days to go.
I did manage to do some creating too. I made this Necklace for my son with lots of his own creative input.

Christmas tags

Well it's been busy busy trying to get ready for Christmas but I did manage to take a day to get together with friends to work on a few of the Tim Holtz tags. We had a great time and managed to get 3 tags done. They were pretty easy and a lot of fun. I learned some new techniques I'll use in other projects. Actually I couldn't sleep that night for thinking of how I was going to create some things with the background techniques. Hopefully I'll find some time to create over the holidays so I can get some sleep.

Tim's tag

I've been enjoying watching the progression of Tim Holtz's 12 tags of Christmas and finally had to try one of his techniques. So here is a card I made using the tag #9 techniques.

Glass Tile necklace

It took me a while to work out the kinks in this necklace. Because it is made out of a glass tile and it doesn't have a hole to add a jump ring for the chain I had to wrap the back with embossed copper and hide a wire in between the copper and the tile. It worked out better that way since it needed something nice on the back anyway.

Create

Here's a book that's been pushed around my studio for some time now. It started off being two separate pieces that came together to make this book. I did the metal embossing not knowing what I was going to put it on and I crackled the cover of the book without an idea to embellish it. So as they got shoved around they eventually came together as one. Destiny, this work better the less I try.

Nature mirror

Well this is kind of different for me. I had this mirror that I painted and crackled a while back for no particular reason except that I had excess paint I didn't want to throw out. Over the last few days this piece just sort of evolved with word transfers and inking and grunge board. I wish every project worked like that.

Another Show

Finally I'm blogging again. I have a few new things to show you but never enough time.

Well another craft show is over so I think this week will be a good blogging week. Here's a few pictures of out booth at the Stittsville show we just did on the weekend. It's always difficult to blend out different kinds of arts and crafts together but I think in the end it looked quite good.

I've made some more new jewelry and a jar angel that I'll post in the next couple of days.

Time on my hands

I've been in a jewelery making mood lately. I finished these necklaces made with watch parts. I've been working on some glass tiles for necklaces but was having a hard time figuring out how to attach chains for the necklace. The tiles have been decorated for some time and I've finally found a way to turn them into necklaces with some wire and embosses copper. They're very close to being done so I'll try and get pictures posted in the next couple of days.

Wow, where does the time go. I've been busy but don't have a lot to show for it. The Museum show was great I had a lot of fun.
I've been trying out some new jewelery making with old watch parts. Here's one that I've finished. I have a few more in the work that are close to being done and will try and post them in the next couple of days.

Tile card

Another use for my Xyron adhesive machine. I love things Mosaic and got this technique from the Aug/Sept. Technique Junkie Newsletter. Once I got started I made 5 of them. And that was just with one colour idea. What a great way to use up all those scraps.

Transparency Cards

Here's a card I made with all my new toys. I used the Xyron adhesive machine for the back of the transparency and added Pearl Ex to it. Then I stamped the front with Stazon black. The textured background was done with a Cuttlebug folder and the frame around the transparency was cut with the Spellbinder nestabilities. Now I need to go make more for my upcoming shows

Tattered Angels

I've been playing with the new Tattered Angels Nature Glimmer Kit I picked up at the Painted Pony. It came with everything to make this amazing book. I think I've become addicted to Glimmer Mist. Their was 3 small bottles in the kit and I definitely need more colours. Here's the front cover and a few inside pages I did.

Piano Hinge Book

This is what I've been working on this week. I'm teaching a class how to make a Piano Hinge book this weekend at The Painted Pony so I've made a few books to try out different materials for it. This one was made with Grunge Board which was nice and flexible for the cover spine but limits the size you can make it. I"m looking forward to the class. This was a fun book to make.

Fibrefest

We had a busy weekend. We got Mathew moved into his new apartment. His room is empty just waited to be redecorated. Just an empty palette. What to do?!
I also got lots of card done for the Fibrefest coming up this weekend. I stuck to 2 themes while making them, fall and sewing. Here are a couple of them.
Here's info on the Fibrefest:

New books

Wow where does the time go. I've been really busy working on some books and have finally finished 2 of them. I'll being doing both of these as workshops at the Painted Pony. For some reason they were harder to do than I expected but I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. I'm especially happy with the Acrylic wedding book. I think they were harder than other ones I've done because you always had to be thinking about what was on the other side of the page and not glue things down too fast. If you can't tell, the other book is made with old 45"s and the theme is my high school years. These are both displayed at the Painted Pony now.

Earmark Studio

Well I've been busy working on some new workshop ideas and scheduling fall workshops. I'm excited to let you know I'm going to be teaching a workshop at the Earmark Studio for Cheryl Poulin on Nov. 9th. Cheryl has a wonderful country studio near Dunrobin. Here's the link to my workshop. Make sure you check out the rest of her web site for lots more workshops.

I'm working on about 3 workshop books right now, but none are ready for picture taking yet. So here's a couple of pictures from by garden.

Xena Princess Warrior thought she should be included too.

Tag book

Here's a book that I made after seeing a similar one as a sample in a store. I started by distressing the tags and then it all went vintage from there, so I had to use the unclaimed Southin family photos I had. I knew I kept them for something. I may never be able to through out another old picture again.

Because the spine is made with an accordion fold the top tags flip on way while the bottom tags flip the other. Very fun, although not everyone notices if they don't open the book wide enough.I think I'll try to put the tags through a Cuttlebug embossing folder and make a colourful variation.

Cards

Here's a couple of cards I did this week. The first one is made with a piece of transparency. It's hard to see from the scanned in picture so I took a photo of it standing too. The second card was inspired by the purple flower embossed paper I got last week. I couldn't wait to use it on something.
So this week I'm working on an acrylic book. I'll let you know how it goes!

Welcome

Welcome to my blog. This is new to me, so any comments or suggestions would be helpful. My goal here is to post some things I've been working on as well as let you know what my upcoming classes and activities are. My next class is at the Painted Pony in Stittsville on this coming Friday. I'll be teaching jewelry made with memory glass. We'll be doing 3 different styles with Memory glass. I think it's going to be a lot of fun. The next morning I'm teaching at the Paper Paradise in Kemptville and we will be making a Flip Flop mini scrapbook. Here's some pictures of the book.
