July Collage a Day Challenge- week 2

There is a reason these things are called challenges. What started off seeming like an easy projects has gotten a little trickier this week. The first weeks collages were pretty easy and fairly fast to do. This week they have become more of a challenge and seem to be taking a little more time. So now I'm doing a little research to learn more about collage art and get inspiration. I am still enjoying the challenge though and am even thinking about a possible August challenge!!
Day 8- Lost and found
Day 9- Five

Day 10- Parking

Day 11- Chinese tea

Day 12- Ledger

Day 13- Take a bread in the shade

Day 14- Serenity
Have you done any collages yet? I have a few people over on the facebook group that have shares some of theirs. Come over and take a look and/or share yours. I can really use your inspiration to keep going.

Keep Creating! Wendy

Week one, July Collage a Day Challenge

Here are my pieces for week 1 of my July Collage a Day Challenge. So far so good. I had a few days that I had to do 2 because other days were busy but I guess that's just part of the challenge. I'm enjoying it and stepping a little out of my comfort zone.
Day 1 Canada Day
Day 2 Angels

Day 3 Orange dreams

Day 4 Bingo

Day 5 Purple Skies
Day 6 Tree of Life.

Day 7 Believe

Have you been playing along? If you have come on over to our facebook group to share some of your collages. Or just come over to take a look at some of the other group members creations. I'm getting some of my inspiration from other members to keep me going. You don't need to do one everyday if you don't want. Just do one whenever you get a chance and share to help keep the rest of us going til the end of the month.

Happy Creating!

Collage a Day July Challenge

Do you like a challenge?
Day one.

I can't decide if I like challenges or not. I have tried following along with a few online challenges but I never seem to last to the end. Okay I admit usually I don't last more than a few days. I don't know why that is, it just is.

But I do like the idea of a challenge and the other day it hit me that I need to do a daily challenge and July seems like the right time to do it.

A few days before this idea came to me collage things came popping up in my like for no apparent reason. So I guess collaging is what I need to challenge myself with.

Would you like to join me? For the month of July I will be making one collage a day. I've chosen to do small 5x5" pieces but you can do any size you'd like. I hope to make mine into a book when I'm done.

I've had a few people on fb interested in joining in and I figure the more I get the more motivated I'll be to keep at it for the whole month so I've made a fb group where we will be sharing some of our collages. If you'd like to join in you can find us here.

My first collage is above. I'm calling it Canada Day. I hope you're having a good one.

Happy Collaging!

Lady Slipper Orchids

A friend sent me a link to the Lady Slipper Orchids at Purdon Conservation area the other day because they are in bloom right now. After a brief discussion, discovering that we both hadn't seen them and wanted to, we quickly made arrangements for a road trip that afternoon. The web site was very helpful in telling us what percentage of blooms were out that day so it sounded promising.
With camera in hand we were off and it did not disappoint. It turned out to be not just about the orchids. It's a beautiful conservation area worth going any time of year I'm sure. It was also very magical and I'm sure there were many faeries and such roaming around behind our backs.

If you ever get a chance to go, I highly recommend it. And if you have time in the next week or two check the web site to see what percentage of orchids are in bloom.

Slide or negative ATC's

Mega swap
Another challenging ATC theme for me this month. It was interesting to see what others did with the 'slides/negatives' themed though.
I guess we all have some of these lying around. Do you have any interesting projects you've done with old slides or negatives?
This months meeting was also our annual mega swap. This is where we put out our extra cards on a table and get to pick as many cards as we put in. The picture above is of some of the cards before we did the picking.

Gelli Plate Workshop

One of my favourite things to do these days is play with my Gelli Plate. So it was great fun to spend the day teaching these ladies the ins and outs of using a Gelli Plate yesterday. As you can see they made lots of prints and at the end of the day I showed them how to make a small book with one of their prints.

Have you tried print making on a Gelli Plate yet. If you haven't I will warn you it's very addictive and loads of fun.

Workshop time again.

I don't know if you noticed or not but I took a little time off of teaching workshops. Sometimes we all need a little time to reboot to get the creativity going again, some time to just play and create on ones own. I don't always know when I'm playing/creating if it will be something I will do for a workshop or not. This little  'Joy in Bloom' canvas was a fun one to make and I was happy to be able to teach it.

Yesterday I had three wonderful ladies in to create with me. They did a wonderful job of making it their own.

I love seeing the colour variations that people choose.
