December creating!

December can be such a busy time. Do you find time to do some creativity at this time of year? As busy as it was I surprised myself with how much I was able to get done. Here are a few of the projects I got done this month.
Altered tin
I started a few of these altered tins last year so it was fun to get them out and finish them. The one above is my oldest son when he was one year old.

This is made with a photo of my two boys and nephews from over 20 years ago.

Gingerbread house
Often in the past we have bought Gingerbread house kits to make. This year we couldn't find any in the store by the time we went looking so we decided to try our hand at making one from scratch. I think it turned out pretty good for our first try.

Christmas card
This is one of a few card that I finished this month. You can see more over on Dragonfly Dreamers Monthly Exploration FB page.

How was your December. I'd love to see some of your creations. Share them in the comments or over on the FB group page.

Button and Lace Trees workshop

I've lost count of how many trees I've made and workshops I've taught for it, in the last few years but it's still one of my favourite things to do. It's fun and relaxing and always interesting to see the end results whether it's mine or a students. They are always uniquely individual. Here are this years creations so far.

Fun with buttons and lace.

The Button and Lace tree is usually a pre-Christmas workshop but by request I did one yesterday. It was fun to do it out of season although I think these trees don't need to be just for Christmas. They're a beautiful to have out all year round.
As with many creative workshops it was fun to see the variation of trees at the end of the afternoon.

Button and Lace Trees

I had a great time this past weekend teaching this small group of ladies how to make Button and Lace Trees. This was such a fun way to get in the holiday spirit. I just love doing these trees. The ladies did a fantastic job.

Recycled Christmas card ATC's

I can't believe it's almost a week into January. Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas holiday with friends and family. With the kids home for the holidays the time went all too fast here. It was great to have time with family.

Now I need to back track a bit. I seemed to have forgotten to share out December ATC swap. The theme was recycled Christmas cards.

Last years catch up...

Happy New Year everyone. I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and brought in the new year in your favourite way! For the Tin Man and I it means a quiet cozy evening in front of the tv. I even managed to stay awake till midnight, woohoo!
So now it's time to look ahead to the new year...but wait I'm not ready for that yet. I just realized I forgot to share Decembers ATC's with you. Well you know the Christmas thing kind of took up all my time for a bit, but now that that is over it's time to do some January clean up and catch up. So first on the list is those ATC's. The theme for December was Aurora Borealis Christmas ornament. So that meant it didn't have to be your typical flat ATC but something to hang on a tree. I thought this was a lot of fun although some how I forgot the Aurora Borealis part but Olive was nice enough to point out that the bead on the top of my ornament was an Aurora Borealis crystal. I love when things work out that way.

I'm not positive but I think that just about wraps up 2013 for me. I'll be back with a little look forward to 2014 soon.

How is 2014 looking for you? I hope it's a creative one;)

Last studio workshop for the year

Tags inspired by my students.

I can't believe we've come to the last workshop in the studio for this year. It's been a great year here in the studio for lots of creating. This past Sunday was a really fun day of doing some Christmas Mega Tags. These tags are something I've been playing with for a few years. sometimes getting a few friends together for a play day of making Christmas tags, so when one of my students asked if I was going to be doing a workshop with them I was delighted to accommodate. This is really just about playing with Distress inks, Glimmer Mists, stencils and embellishments. My hope was that each person would get about 5 tags finished so I think we did pretty good and the results speak for themselves.

It was a great way to get me into a creative Christmas mood. As usual after class the creative vibes continued and I got a few more tags and some cards made.
