WOYWW

I love checking out the work desks over at the Stamping Ground. I have to admit I prefer the messy ones. They make me feel better about my messes and I find them quite inspiring. It's true when they say a picture is worth a thousand words. You can see how the person works as well as what kind of work they do and so much more.

Well today I'm going to show you 2 of my work desks, only because it's so rare to see any of them clean so I just had to show you my jewelry desk.
This is as clean as it gets. About a week ago it was a complete disaster and had been for some time. It was so bad it was actually stopping me from creating jewelry so their was nothing to do but tidy up and do a bit of reorganizing. It wasn't nearly as awful as I thought it would be and didn't even take all that long. So I'm ready to get back at some jewelry creating.
This is my altered art, painting, art journals and anything else work desk. I have a group of friends that get together at my place once a month for an Artists Date. We bring our art journals and work on different techniques each month. Last night we didn't have anything planned but they decided they wanted to do a Teesha Moore inspired page after seeing one in my old art journal. If you go to the link you can watch some technique videos on how to do this. As you can see I didn't get me page done yet so I still have body parts floating around. Hopefully tonight I can get back at it.

So what's on you work desk?

Journal page

For this page I used scraps of paper for the background. Stamped letters for the Direction. Then I did some journaling about having more direction in my life this year. It's probably not very legible but it was just for me anyway. I then dumped an almost empty bottle of white paint here and there on the page and used the opening to make the circle. A few Distress inks blended things together and I finished it off with some grunge arrows.

So my word for the year or maybe just for the time being is DIRECTION.

Check out some of the other art journals on the flickr Art Journal Every Day to see some of the other participants amazing work.

First journal page of 2011.

Here is my first Art journal page for the year. The background is some scrap paper that was left over after doing some print making on gelatin with Christian over the holiday. This was the paper that Christian was wiping off his ink roller, stamps and stencils after using them. It was too cool to throw away so instead of putting in the drawer with interesting scraps I thought I'd use it up right away.

Does any one have a good way to use up some of all those scraps of paper. They seem to be building up here and I can create fast enough. The drawers and boxes are filling up around me with wonderful bits of scrap paper of all kinds. I keep telling myself I'll use if making cards and such but after spending a few hours making cards there doesn't seem to be a dent in any of the piles. What's a girl to do? Any suggestions? Something wonderfully creative that uses up lots of odds and ends of paper? Any one?!!

Wishcasting Wednesday

Today Jamie asks

What do you wish to give yourself permission for?

This is an easy one! I wish to give myself permission to take the time to explore new creative mediums. I think this new art journal that I'm starting will help that. It will be a good place to try things without committing to a canvas or a whole finished piece which is often too daunting a task. Sometimes I see new techniques I want to try but don't know what to do with them after when they're just a nice background. So by using my art journal I can just add to it when I feel like it. And if I don't want to show any one some times that's okay too. No stress creating!
