Summer learning

Well summer sure does make the time fly. I've been more busy gardening than creating but I did manage to go to a workshop at the Dragon's Lair on the weekend and learn how to make this wire wrapped dragonfly from Jane Christie. Lot's of fun and I learned a lot. Can't wait to try it on some of my own jewelry creations.

This week looks like a busy but fun one. I'm off tomorrow to do a kids workshop at a friends place. Then I have a get together with a friend and maybe a trip to a beading store with another friend. And to end the week I'm teaching metal embossing at the Painted Pony on Saturday and jewelry making at St. Elmo's Fire on Sunday. Wow...does it get any better!

Jewelry

Well it seems summer has arrived today. I'm just taking a break from gardening. I know the garden should already be planted, but life happens and the garden can wait. Even though I've been busy with other things lately I did manage to get some jewelry done in the last few weeks. Here are a few of the pieces I did. To see more you can go visit St. Elmo's Fire gift shop in Stittsville. For the address check out her web site here.

Spring

Is there any better time than spring!
Even on rainy days there is so much beauty.

New Schedule

The new schedule is out at the Painted Pony. Check it out here. Lot's of great projects to create. Along with my adult classes, I'm doing some kids workshops in the summer. If you're interested they're in the mini-workshop section.
Remember this? If you don't you'll have to look back on past posts to get the full image. This will be my next workshop at Painted Pony in June.

Flower cards

I found this interesting way of folding paper to make a flower. It can be made using double sided paper but when I tried it the paper was really hard to fold nicely... so I used coffee filters. Made them really easy to fold and gave them a more delicate look. Here are a few of the cards I made with them.

I'm seeing a box with a flower on top and some embossed metal on the side...gotta go create.

Have a Happy Mother's Day!

Concertina book

I've been working like crazy to finish a few more workshops to teach at the Painted Pony. I keep thinking of more ideas but there's just not enough hours in the day to do them all.
Well here's one I just finished. It's a Concertina book. Although it looks small and unassuming on the outside, it has some interesting folds to opens up to lots of photos on the inside. Yes these are my boys a few years ago(like 15!!)...where does the time go.

Well now I have to organize my beads and findings stash and then it's time to create jewelry!

Embossed Metal

Here's a piece I'll probably be teaching at the Painted Pony on the next schedule which is due out soon. This piece is embossed metal from Ten Seconds Studio on a gallery canvas. I'm really enjoying working with the metal and hope to get some different colours to try.
