Have I told you how much I love to teach?!! Well this past Saturday's workshop was no exception. I had two lovely ladies join me to create metal embossed mirrors. We had a great time and they did an amazing job with their creations.

As always it inspired me to work on one of my own again. I was thinking of working in a fall theme but am struggling with working with colours outside my norm. It will get done but for nor it's going to sit and stare at me for a bit. It seems to be one of those, walk away for a while projects. Happy Creating!
Before I start I have to tell you I'm not a big Halloween fan. We live in the country and don't get any trick or treaters. So since the kids are not here to dress up and take out any more, Halloween just sort of comes and goes around here without much notice. Much to the Tin Man's dismay I don't even buy a box or 2 of the mini chocolate bars that come out this time of year any more(no more 'just one little chocolate bar won't hurt' delusions). But after a challenge from Louise, one of my Art Journal members last month to do an altered sardine can assemblage my mind started to fill with Halloween fun. I also have to tell you that after seeing her house decorated for Halloween last year I had a whole new outlook on what it can be, as apposed to my previous store bought views. Louise's house was filled with hand made and vintage Halloween decorations. None of those awful store bought typical decorations. So with these things in mind I began my voyage into the assemblage world which was also a new venture for me. I don't recollect ever doing any assemblage work before but I will definitely be doing it again. It was a bit of a struggle to get started and make decisions on where to put what but once I got going one wasn't enough. I ended up making 3 and a couple of ATC card.
The first 2 were done with copies of vintage photo's that I've collected.
This last one is done with a photo of myself in my tap dancing outfit a few years ago!
I couldn't stop altering these photos, so I did 2 ATC cards and it's not even our theme for ATC meeting next month. Any one want to trade a Halloween card? Happy Creating!
Another month of fun ATC card trading. This months theme was 'favourite meds'

So do you have some favourite meds? As you can see I would like to say I just rest and relax to fix things but in reality a little Advil or a glass of wine is a very good possibility.
Teaching the Gate fold book last weekend got me in the book making mood again. So I got out my papers and made a Piano Hinge book. I think this is my favourite book to make. The skewers are actually what binds the book together. And well, being able to decorate with beads is an added bonus for me!! Although this isn't on the fall Workshop schedule you can let me know if it's something you'd like to do in the new year. Oh my did I say the new year...yes I guess I'm thinking ahead a little but it's always nice to know what you're looking for. You can see the fall schedule here. Do you like to make books? What's your favourite kind of book to make if you do. Happy Creating!
I had another wonderful workshop this past weekend. It was a small group of 3 women here to make gate-fold books. They did a lovely job and chose beautiful papers to use.

Looking at these photo's I now realize I should have taken some of the inside too. They contain a variety of papers that coordinates with the outside. Well I'll try to remember next time. Happy Creating!
Are you a Pinterest addict lover? I'm completely smitten with it. I have to admit I've spent a few hours of my life a drift among the boards. Oh the amazing things you can pin. And oh the inspiration. One of the things I've been drawn to lately is the little vintage vignettes. So I tried my own hand at one and started my own board. This is just a little table that sits in my front hall. I found this little cloche on a pedestal recently and knew right away where it was going. With a little Pinterest inspiration I decided to put an old pocket watch, a large sand dollar and some shells under the dome. Are you a Pinner? If you are leave a link to your boards so I can see what's pin worthy in your life. You're welcome to come and check out my boards as well. Happy Creative Pinning!
